8/5/2004 - Humidity
Humidity (or relative humidity) controls are primarily used for two applications:
Humidifying
Dehumidifying
A wall or duct mounted humidistat, often single pole double throw (SPDT) contact will use a humidity sensitive element that changes it’s length as the humidity changes. This is used to actuate the switch to turn on or off a humidifier or de-humidifier (refrigeration unit).
Similarly, a wall or duct humidity transmitter will send a voltage signal to a controller that is proportional to the relative humidity percentage, enabling the controller to stage or modulate an electronic or steam humidifier or chilled water valve or mechanical cooling unit.
